Walk with a Doctor

We are delighted to announce that the weekly Walk with a Doctor session, taking place every Saturday morning at 10.30am, has resumed. Launched in 2019, this activity proved very popular with the local community, giving attendees a chance to speak with a GP about living a healthy life, identifying warning signs and symptoms of serious health conditions, as well as managing common conditions such as Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension & Ischaemic heart disease.

Walk with a Doctor

Every Saturday morning, attendees gather for a walk to Handsworth Park. Group members walk at whichever pace they are most comfortable with, with some of the faster walkers leading at the front, and those simply enjoying a leisurely stroll at the back.

The walk around the park has given both the attendees and the doctors the chance to chat informally with each other in a relaxed and calm setting, and giving everyone a chance to unwind after the busy week.

Since its launch, Walk with a Doctor has built up a steady group of regular members, who are not only the fastest walkers in the group, but are also encouraging, kind and compassionate, particularly to any new attendees.

Exercise is an incredibly important part of our health. It makes us look after our bodies, and keeps us healthy, physically and mentally.

Come along to the Walk with a Doctor sessions on Saturday mornings, and please do spread the word! The Nishkam Healthcare Centre is based on Soho Road, Handsworth, Birmingham.

If you have any queries about attending, or would like more information, get in touch with us via the Contact Form on the homepage. Group members are always advised to visit their own GPs for 1-1 advice.

See you on Saturday!
